Kano state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Zahra’u Muhammad Umar has charged parents and guardians to be more vigilant to ensure a crime free society.

Dr. Zahra’u stated this while inspecting the newly renovated kiru Reformatory Institute at Kiru local government area Kano.

She described drug pushing and abuse as the major catalysts to criminal activities among youths.

The Commissioner maintained that preparations were in top gear for the commencement of another batch of rehabilitation at the center.

According to her, psychiatrists, nurses, religious therapists and Islamic scholars would be part of the new team that will over see the rehabilitation.

Dr. Zahra’u explained that, adequate security measures would be taken to ensure a hitch free exercise.

She commended Kano state government, philanthropists and relevant stakeholders for their commitment in making the reformatory center a reality.

Earlier in his remark, Officer in charge of kiru Reformatory Institute, Muhammad Hashim reaffirmed his team’s readiness to work asidiously to achieve the desired objectives.

He called on parents to register their children for the upcoming rehabilitation program.

Radio Nigeria reports that the kiru Reformatory Institute was established to cater for male and female drug addicts by rehabilitating and empowering them to be self reliant.
