The Federal Government has been urged to assist Kwara state in the the repair of damaged Bailey bridge and Ohan bridge both in Moro Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner for Works and Transports, Engineer Rotimi Iliyasu, made the call while conducting an on the spot assessment of the damaged bridges in company of the state Director of Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Engineer Jato Abdulakeem .
He called on the federal government to speed up work on the new bridge that will serve as a permanent solution to the ancient iron bridge, in the interest of citizens and motorists plying the road on daily basis.
Iliyasu urged the state representatives at the National Assembly to follow up the issue during budget presentation.
He also called for urgent intervention in the fixing of all federal roads that are in bad condition across the state.
In his his remark the state Director of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Jato Abdulakeem said the agency is carrying out palliative work on the bridges to make them motorable.
