The Council Chairman of Jema’a Local Government area of Kaduna state Mr. Yunana Markus Barde has expressed his administrative commitment to liaise with the security Operatives and other stakeholders to curb the lingering security challenges in the area for socio-economic growth and development.

Mr. Yunana Barde stated this in a security meeting with stakeholders as part of effort toward tackling farmers-herders clashes during the farming season at the local government Secretariat in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

According to Mr. Barde, security committees in every district across the local government were formed comprising village heads, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Jama’atul Nasri Islam, JNI, including youth and women representatives.

He applauded the participants for their submission toward bringing a sustainable peace in the local government noting that, the committees were saddled with the responsibility of studying the security situations in their communities, as well as identifying and reporting unfamiliar faces to the appropriate authorities.

Mr. Yunana Markus Barde who pointed security issues as everyone’s business, said the committees would among other things enforce synergy between their communities and security Agencies to ensure information was properly disseminated to avoid people taking laws into their hands.

The Jema’a Local government Chairman instructed people in the area against selling farmlands to strangers to avoid having criminals in their communities and called for the displaced Fulani Natives to return accordingly to their original settlements.

He emphasized the need for proper documentation, assessment and evaluation of community residents and cautioned them against collection of money from the unknown herdsmen to settle in their communities.

According to Mr. Barde, minning activities in Kaninkon Chiefdom should be given proper security attention to identify and arrest criminal gangs and urged organized Unions to properly identify commercial motorcycle riders during the period to ensure safety for all.

He commended the effort of religious and traditional leaders, security agencies, and citizens in managing security issues in the area.
