Zamfara State Government has flagg off the distribution of food items worth one point eight billion Naira to the less privileged in the state as part of the Ramadan gift package.

Governor Bello Matawalle disclosed this while addressing newsmen at Government House Gusau, the state capital.

Mattawale said, the commodities to be distributed include rice, maize, millet, sugar, cooking oil eggs and clothing materials.

According to him, state government found it necessary to assist the less privileged in the state during the month of Ramadan considering the hardship being faced as a result of banditry and COVID 19 pandemic.

In a related development , the governor also tasked the Ulama in the state to do more on the existing security situation in the state and the Country in general.

Matawalle charged the Chief Imams of Jumma’at Mosques in the state to redouble their efforts in prayers for peace to prevail in the state,

He explained that, the kind of vices taking place in this state was alarming and called on Imams to use this special month of Ramadhan to supplicate to Almighty God for alleviation of these vices.

In their various responses, the Chief Imams present at the meeting commended the Governor for his efforts at ending insecurity in the state and promised to do more individually and collectively
as religious leaders.
