Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared Saturday the second of April 2022 as the first day of Ramadan 1443 after Hijra.

Addressing newsmen, he said the new crescent of Ramadan was sighted in Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, respectively

The Sighting of the moon marks the beginning of Ramadan fasting by Muslims across the country.

The Sultan called on Muslims to continue to pray for peaceful coexistence in the country.

The Islamic leader appealed to marketers not to hike the price of food commodity considering the overbearing economic situation affecting the country.
