Journalists have been urged to practice the profession inline with the ethics

Former president of the Nigerian union of journalists and incumbent commissioner for information Comrade Mohammad Garba stated this in an inaugural meeting of a non governmental organization in Kano.

Comrade Mohammad Garba who is the chairman of the Board said journalists as the watch dog of the society played a vital role in the development of the nation.

He said there was need to ensure they were well trained to perform their constitutional responsibility effectively.

The former President of NUJ, said the main aim of inaugurating the board was to map out blue print to assist journalists in the country.

Mohammad Garba maintained that the initiative would bring stakeholders onboard to fine-tune how enhancing walfare of journalists, insurance,and all other needed logistics would be met to boost their morale.

Earlier the Acting chairman of the Advocacy Gbenga Onayeiga said training and retraining of journalists would bring about Professionalism.

Other Members of the board are Bimbo Oyetunde, Barryster sadiya Adamu,Abbas Ibrahim, Isyaku Ahmad,Adamu salihu Ladan and shuaibu Usman liman.

The inaugural meeting scheduled for one day attracted senior working journalists from all parts of the country.
