National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), Northwest Zone has rescued 35 victims of human trafficking.
The Zonal commander, Mr Ibrahim Babale disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano.
According to him, NAPTIP Northwest Zone which comprises of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kaduna and Bauchi states, received 6 males and 29 females retrieved from traffickers. and the command is also working tirelessly to curtail internal and external trafficking in persons.
Mr Babale pointed out that, the police apprehended the traffickers, and transferred the victims to NAPTIP through the Nigerian Immigration Service Kongolom International Border post in Mai Adua, Katsina state.
The Zonal commander said the victims were on their way to Europe through the Nigerian border and being recruited from 11 states including, Ondo, Lagos, Enugu, Anambra, Oyo among others.
Radio Nigeria reports that the NAPTIP Northwest Zonal command has succeeded in rescuing over 1,000 victims from January to December last year.
