Academic Staff Union of University, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Branch has organized a peaceful protest over encroachment of it’s land at College of Agriculture and Animal Science Mando Kaduna by Kaduna State Government.

Over one thousand members of ASUU Ahmadu Bello University branch participated during the peaceful protest.

Addressing the Journalists during the protest at the gate of the college in Mando, the Chairperson of the Union, Comrade Haruna Muhammad Jibrin urged ABU to institute another legal action on Government of Kaduna State.

He also demanded that Governor Nasiru Ahmed Elrufai to pay compensation on the destruction of the wall of the college, felling of trees, distortion of flora and fauna and the entire environment.

Comrade Haruna Muhammad Jibrin also advised Senate of Ahmadu Bello University to withdraw the degree certificates awarded to Governor Nasir Ahmed Elrufai as his many actions are in contravention of the requirements in character and learning deemed worthy of ABU degree award.

Also speaking, Chairman of National Association of Academic Technology ABU Zaria, Comrade Dahiru Haruna lamented that the action of Kaduna State Government exposed both the staff and the students of the college into insecurity.

One thousand nine hundred and six hectares belong to Ahmadu Bello University situated at College of Agriculture and Animal Science encroached by Kaduna State Government.

The land is part of the legacy left behind by Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto to develop the public education.
