Jigawa state government expressed satisfaction the level of loan repayments made by farmers in the state which presently reached over 86 percent.

The Managing Director of the state Agricultural and Rural Development Authority JARDA, Alhaji Imam Muhammad stated this while speaking to newsmen in Dutse.

He explained that, over 150,000 farmers were given different types of agricultural loans aimed at supporting them to boost their production at a competitive price.

According to him, Governor Badaru Abubakar has came up with a policy for moving the state peasants farmers from subsistence farming to commercial farming which many innovations were introduced to achieve the desire goals.

Alhaji Imam noted that, the loan was both in cash and kind, included  fertilizers, agro-chemicals, improved seeds and other modern and simple farm implements.

He said, the state government had trained and provided motorcycles to hundreds of extension workers who engaged with farmers inside farm land for promoting modern farming methods.

The MD pointed out that, the policy had been yielding fruitful results, in supporting national food security and poverty eradication.

He therefore assured more support to the farmers for more job opportunities to youths and boost the rural economy for the state.
