National Directorate of Employment NDE, Zamfara State Office, confirmed the non-payment of over two thousand eight hundred beneficiaries of Federal Government Unskilled Workers across the state.

The state Coordinator of the Directorate Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu confirmed this in an interview with newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

He said the 2,800 participants yet to be paid were from Talata Mafara, Shinkafi, Bungudu Kaura Namoda local government areas of the state.

He added that out of the 4000 participants which were to be paid by First City Monument Bank (FCMB) had so far, paid only 1200 while the remaining 2800 still waiting for payment.

Radio Nigeria gathered that many of the recruited participants are yet to receive their monthly N20,000, while some received for only one month.

The three – month programme was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari last year to mitigate problems associated with lack of employment in rural areas through a short-term engagement.

Similarly, many of the selected beneficiaries in Zamfara State who have completed the public works within the three months provided are yet to be paid the N20,000 promised by the federal government.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Abdullahi Aliyu from Bungudu Local Government Area who was among the 14,000 youths recruited for ESPW, received only a month stipend and still waiting to collect his remaining N40,000 for the two months.
