A Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Mr Sam Ohuabunwa has pledged to make Nigeria a prosperous country if elected in the 2023 presidential election.
He stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital after a meeting with the party’s stakeholders.
“My mission essentially is to change Nigeria’s narrative and condition. For 61 years, Nigeria has been a third world country, developing country, a stagnated country, a country which has become a poverty capital of the world, with 71 per cent of its population regarded as poor by the World Bank classification.
“A country that has the highest level of joblessness. Today, 53 per cent of the youth in Nigeria have no job and have no hope,” he said.
Ohuabunwa further explained that Nigeria has become a killing field where people were being killed like flies and animals, a country with all sorts of names.
He pledged to eradicate poverty among Nigerians while stressing that the nation had no reason to be poor because of its abundant natural resources, including agriculture and ensure quality education, housing and justice for all.
In a remark, the PDP Chairman in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Babandi, said the party received Ohuabunwa as one of the party’s aspirants to take over from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
He said Ohuabunwa, being a renowned technocrat entrepreneur and a man of God, was well received in jigawa state and wished him luck in all his endeavours.
Babandi said the people of jigawa have listened to him and all the delegates were here and would make their decision regarding the selection at the end.
He, however, expressed the hope that the party would select the best candidate.
