Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has directed a total clampdown on vehicles using unauthorized number plates across the country.

Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi gave the directive during a strategic session for Zonal and Sector Commanding Officers in Abuja, stressing that the directive became necessary to check crimes.

Dr. Oyeyemi said already the FRSC and the Nigeria Police Force had commenced investigation on the sources of production of unauthorized number plates.

The FRSC Boss stressed that those involved in the production and usage would be prosecuted.

Dr. Oyeyemi emphasised that the commission would continue to support efforts of sister Agencies at addressing insecurity in the country.

He charged the commanding officers to ensure strict supervision of personnel on operations for effective traffic management across the country.

In a remark, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha appealed to state governments and other stakeholders to complement Federal Government’s huge investment in road infrastructure for socio-economic growth.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Service office, Mr Maurice Nnamidi, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation also stressed the need for road users’ particularly commercial drivers to have attitudinal change towards making Nigerian Roads Safer.
