Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been urged to shelve their planned strike in the interest of the nation’s educational system and the future of the students.

The Chairman Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities in Nigeria,Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali SAN ,made the call while
speaking with journalists during the official handing over ceremony of 10,000 exercise books by the Yusuf Olaolu Ali Foundation to the Osun state government held in Ilorin.

He said this is not the best of times for the educational system to be put in a coma through strike.

Mallam Olaolu -Ali appealed to the leadership of ASUU and their members to have a larger look at the implications of strike on the standard of education, as well as the acceptability of the nation’s certificates outside the country.

He explained that the stability of educational calendar is part of the criteria use for university ranking and it is missing in the country’s system.
