Major General Aminu Bande (rtd), has formally declared his interest to contest the governorship seat of Kebbi state, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking with newsmen shortly after he visited the state party secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, General Bande, said he was not contesting for personal interest, but for the interest of liberating the masses of the state which are in object poverty.

According to him, he is back home to contribute to the betterment of his people saying, I felt I must join the current democratic process which my party, the PDP is there available for me to aspire to whatever position I desired.

He told newsmen that, recently he was at the state party office to tell the party faithfuls that, he had joined the PDP right from the ward, local government and to state levels.

“As a matter of fact, I am making consultations beginning from the ward and today is an opportunity for me to be at the state headquarters of the party”.

General Bande, described Kebbi State as more of a rural state, in view of minimal development recorded by the present APC administration, promising that if elected he would ensure rapid transformation of the state.

He described the present political scenario in the country as indication that, godfatherism in politics had become a thing of the past.

Responding while receiving the aspirant, the State PDP Chairman Alhaji Usman Bello-Suru, lauded General Bande for choosing to be with the PDP and assured him of a level playing ground.
