Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Kashere, Prof Umar Pate who is also the convener of the conference advocates more alternative sources of funding the media industry and development of a curriculum in Mass Communication in Nigerian Universities.

This, he described as a major tool for ensuring editorial independence in both private and media.

Keynote speaker, Dr John Momoh said proving alternative sources for the media industry was very paramount, especially with the negative effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in the industry.
