Government and Non Governmental Organisations have been advised to use sports as a veritable tool for taking the youths away from street for viable ventures.
Group Managing Director NNPC Malam Mele Kolo Kyari gave the advice while presenting some trophies to winners of MKK Unity cup football competition organised by Dan Adalin Bosso Alh Bala Alfa in Minna Niger state.
Represented by the Director NNPC Medical Services Dr Mohammed Zango the NNPC Group Managing Director Malam Mele Kolo Kyari maintained that sports and recreation if properly harnessed could address youths restiveness bedevilling Nigeria.
Malam Mele Kolo Kyari explained that both government and nọn governmental organisations can assist in the areas of funding training and capacity building of referees to achieve meaningful results.
He however commended the Adalin Bosso Alh Bala Alfa for organising the football competition and appealed to corporate and philantropic organisations to emulate the gesture.
Duza lions fc of Maitumbi emerged winners after beaten FUT Transformers by five goals to one in a penalty shiot out.
Winners of the competition recieved a giant trophy and a hundred thousand naira followed by second that recieved a small trophy and eighty thousand naira while third place got fifty thousand naira.
They have also intend to review upward the cash prices of both winning and participating teams.
