Kantin Kwari Traders Lament Over Congestion, Illegal Structures In The Market

Traders at Kantin Kwari market have appealed to the state government under the leadership of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to come to their aid over illegal construction of structures and congestion.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, the chairman of Kwari Small scale and medium scale traders association, Comrade Balarabe Tatari said, they were dismayed to discover that a construction work had began on drainages in some parts of the market,which may lead to flooding during rainy season.

He explained that another attempt to dismantle bumps by unknown persons is ongoing at unity road, Saying that building of shops in the middle of the market has led to congestion and other environmental hazards.

Comrade Balarabe Tatari noted that, some of the routes used for transportation of goods and services were blocked by buildings.

He reaffirmed the associations readiness to partner with the state government in moving commercial activities to international standard.

“we know that the governor is not aware of what is going on at the market”

Also speaking, the public relations officer of the association, Malam Mansur Dantsoho Spikin Mantained that congestion had led to insecurity in the market as plate numbers were removed from vehicles by unknown persons.

He called on the state government to as a matter of urgency sanction anyone found guilty of erecting buildings without due process.

Responding, the senior special assistant to the Governor on kwari market, Alhaji Usman Nagoda said he is not aware of some of the issues raised by the traders.

He said most of the traders park their vehicles by the road side instead of taking them to the designated parking lot at ‘filin idi.

Alhaji Usman Nagoda noted that, the state government was committed to mapping out policies and programs aimed at uplifiting the standard of commercial activities.

“The state government had introduced corporate affairs registration for traders to enable them access loans and other benefits”

Radio Nigeria recalls that, in August 2021,Kantin kwari traders known as ‘yan tebura staged a peaceful protest to express their dissatisfaction over construction of structures at Layin Ta’Anbo and Bayajidda Street.

There by securing an interim court order restraining the respondents or any other person from building any structure at Layin Ta’Anbo and Bayajidda Street.
