The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE has accredited the Kebbi State College of Nursing Sciences to commence the award of Higher National and National Diploma in Nursing.

The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Mukthar Umar Bunza, stated this on the occasion of presentation of learning materials to the college by the Member representing Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski federal constituency, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu.

Professor Umar Bunza, revealed that, in January 2018, the institution was blacklisted in the induction of the National Nursing Council and Midwifery of Nigeria but with the commitment of the state government, the institution has changed tremendously in terms of academics and structural development.

According to him, the institution was formally school of Nursing which had lots of limitations in its aspiration and capacity to serve the people.

He explained that in January 2021, the state Governor Atiku Bagudu assented to the bill presented by the State House of Assembly in order to upgrade its status to a college.

While thanking the Member House Representative Dr. Yusuf Sununu, Professor Bunzu, said the state government welcome any assistance by individual or organizations towards the development of the institution.

The Provost, Kebbi State College of Nursing Sciences Birnin Kebbi, Mohammed Murtala Musa, expressed gratitude with the gesture provided by the Member representing Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski federal constituency Dr. Yusuf Sununu to the college.

According to him, the learning materials came at the proper time and would also assist the students towards their educational development particularly during practicals.

Murtala Musa, said the institution has overcome most of its challenges through the effort of the state government and donations by individuals and organizations.

The items provided are rubber human, rubber babies, projectors, bed sheets and oxygen among others.
