Sixteen persons have been killed by armed bandits at Ba’are village in Mashegu local government council of Niger state while performing Subhi prayers in a mosque.

This is the second time such incident is happening in Niger state.

Similar incident occured over a month ago when armed bandits in their large number carrying dangerous weapons stormed Maza kuka village of Mashegu local government council killing eighteen worshippers while observing same Subhi prayers.

Sixteen persons have been killed and some few others wẹre wounded during the attack which occoured yesterday and are now recieving treatment at the Kontagora General Hospital.

Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state Mr Monday Bala Kuryas who confirned the incident in a telephone interview to Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Minna however said nine people have been killed by the hoodlums.

Mr Monday Bala Kuryas also explained that Niger state police command in collaboration with the Army Civil Defence and Vigilante have drafted additional security personnel to the affected area to further safeguard lives and properties.

He however maintained that security agencies will never shy away from their responsibility of protecting lives and properties of Nigerlites and Nigerians while calling for credible intelligence from the public to succeed.

Those injured are currently recieving medical attention at the Kontagora General Hospital.
