House of Representatives has directed the National Youth Service Corps to reopen its orientation camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The directive followed the adoption of a motion sponsored by a member from Borno State, Alhaji Usman Zannah at the house plenary.

Alh Usman Zannah explained that despite the return of peace in the state, the NYSC had refused to reopen the camp to allow graduands conduct thier annual constitutional assignment as prescribed by the law.

The lawmaker emphasized that the orientation camp which was shut down about 10 years ago following activities of insurgents in Borno State was yet to be reopened despite efforts the State Government had been making to secure the camp.

He said the Borno State Government under Prof Umara Zulum was making adequate arrangements to ensure corps members posted to the state undergo their orientation in the NYSC camp without any threat or fear of attacks.
