Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has condoled families of the victims of Gidan Bawa village in Isa LGA on the recent attack that killed twenty three people in the state.
In a statement by the Special Assistant on media to the governor Muhammad Bello said the bandits carried out the attack on a 45 seater bus travelling from Sabon birni to Kaduna at Gidan Bawa village.
The statement further says Gov. Tambuwal prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, quick recovery for those hospitalized and other wounded.
Briefing the Governor on the incident, the commissioner of police in the state Kamaluddeen Okunola who led heads of combined security team to the government house said the bandits set the bus ablaze together with the people inside.
The statement quoted the police commissioner assuring the Governor that already measures had been put in place to forestall reoccurrence of the attack.
Other sources claimed that more than forty people were killed in the attack.
