Uplifting the standard of living and protecting the rights of women and children has been identified as one of the cardinal objectives of the Ganduje led administration.
The special Adviser to the Kano state Governor on Health Services Management Dr Fauziyya Buba Idris made the disclosure while briefing newsmen as part of 16 days activism to commemorate international day for the elimination of violence against women held in kano.
Dr. Fauziyya Buba explained that, preparations were in top gear to establish five more sexual referral centers and rehabilitation centers for drug addicts across the five emirate councils.
She pointed that, the state government was committed to mapping out a legal frame work for achieving zero tolerance on women rights violation.
The special adviser said, the executive had also submitted a bill to the state house of assembly,if passed into law, the bill would protect the rights of children aginst all forms of labour and molestation.

Dr. Fauziyya Buba said the office of the special adviser on health services was working in collaboration with traditional institutions, faith based organizations, community police, NGOs, CBOs and the media to educate the general public about the dangers of sexual and gender based violence.
She said they had engaged in sensitization, community awareness and creation of a hub which had yielded positive results on women related health problems.
The special adviser decried over rising cases of gender based violence in the state and called for synergy between the general public to ensure perpetrators were brought to book.
She called on parents and guardians to report cases of molestation to relevant authorities as treatment to rape victims is free in Kano.
Dr. Fauziyya reaffirmed the state government’s commitment in mitigating gender based violence through policies and programs aimed at protecting the welfare and health of it’s citizens.

25th November to 10th December 2021 was set aside by the global community to galvanize action to end violence aginst women and girls around the world.
Nigeria has been in the forefront of this campaign as states and local governments had organized series of activities to commemorate the important event.
