Kamaru Usman of Nigeria defended his UFC welterweight title against Colby Covington of the United States.

In their rematch at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday morning, the Nigerian Nightmare defeated Covington by unanimous decision to maintain his UFC 268 title reign.

A deft combination of punches and body kicks from Usman put him in control of the standup in the first round.

Second-round jabs and hooks from the Nigerian sent the American to the canvas twice, allowing him to regain the upper hand.

Covington fought back at the end of the third round after he cooled down his aggression.

In the fourth round, Covington’s newfound confidence continued to inspire him to new heights of success. He repeatedly harassed Usman, causing the champion to suffer a few minor injuries.

With both fighters trying to get a last-second knockout, the final round was a blur of blurry punches and kicks.

Five-time reigning champion The Nigerian Nightmare was awarded a unanimous (48-47, 49-46) win by the judges.

Anderson Silva holds the record for the most consecutive UFC victories, with 15 wins in a row (16).

Usman knocked out the American in the fifth round at UFC 245 despite the fact that the fight was stopped by a TKO.
