kano state hisbah board has reaffirmed it’s commitment in eradicating street begging, child labour, molestation,drug abuse and all forms of societal vices.

The commander general of the agency Sheikh Dr. Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina stated this while parading 46 men and women suspected of street begging and other related offences.

According to him, most of those apprehended were found begging at different locations within the state metropolis.

He noted that, the agency had intensified efforts at ensuring that street begging and other forms of societal vices became history. Saying that the Kano state hisbah board had also succeeded in arresting under age young men and women who had left home without their parents consent while some were willingly given out to serve as house helps.

Sheikh Ibn Sina decried over rising cases of teenagers engaging in drug abuse and other harmful acts.

The commander general noted that out of the 46 people arrested 6 would be prosecuted for failing to comply with the law as they were arrested several times by the Kano hisbah board,while 40 would be reunited with their families.

Some of those arrested who spoke to Radio Nigeria pleaded for leniency and promised not to engage in begging and other similar offences.

Radio Nigeria recalls that few months ago the Kano state government banned street begging and commenced evacuation of beggers to their states and local government areas as well as empowering Kano state indegenes among them.
