The Ministry of Works and Housing has obtained approval to complete the 13.5 kilometres of road from Onitsha-Owerri, through Okija-Ihembosi-Afor-Nkpor Ezinifitte in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The contract, according to the Minister, Mr Babatunde Fashola, which was awarded in 2011, is now to gulp over 2 billion Naira, with an additional completion period of 6 months.

He said FEC had also approved over 34 billion Naira for the completion of the dualisation of the 20 kilometre road from Yenagoa Junction to Kulu to Otuoke and to Bayelsa Palm in Bayelsa State.

The Minister said the project was awarded in December 2014, but could not take off due to militancy issues at the time, and limited budgetary provisions.

Similarly, the Ministry got approval to expend 30 billion Naira to complete the remaining portion of the 74 kilometre Nasarawa to Loko Road, linking the Loko-Oweto Bridge.
