The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Thursday the ninth of September as the first day of Safar, one thousand four hundred and thirty three, after Hijira.

This was made known in a statement by chairman advisory committee on religious affairs Sultanate council Sokoto state, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu

He said the declaration followed a report of non sighting of the new crescent of Safar, by the Sultanate council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in conjunction with the National Moon sighting committee.
