Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of PTF Boss Mustapha

The Federal Government has lifted the ban on religious gatherings across the country.

This was disclosed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, at the daily press briefing in Abuja.

Mr Boss Mustapha said the PTF submitted its recommendations which were approved by the president with guidelines that would cover the next four weeks, spanning 2nd – 29th June, 2020.

He said there would be Cautious advance into the next  phase of the national response to COVID-19 which included application of science and data to guide  targeting of areas of on-going high transmission of COVID-19 in the country.

The PTF chairman stressed that Mobilization of all resources at State and Local Government levels would be needed  to create public awareness on COVID 19.

He said it would improve compliance and sustenance of key non-pharmaceutical interventions that would apply nationwide and including ban on gatherings of not more than 20 people outside of workplace.

Mr Mustapha confirmed that relaxation of restriction on places of Worship was based on guidelines issued by the PTF and protocols agreed by state governments.
