Federal Government has spent over 9 billion naira on rehabilitation and extension of over 3,000 hectares of irrigation land at Yamidi village in the Auyo local government area of jigawa state.

The Minister of water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu disclosed this during the handing and taking over of the project in Auyo local government area.

He said the project was aim at boosting food security and economic well being of the people.

Engineer Suleiman Adamu called on small and medium farmers to make good use of the project to create job among unemployed youths. 

The minister also reaffirmed the federal government`s commitment to boost agriculture to enhance food security.

Also Speaking, Governor Badaru Abubakar who presided on the taking over of the farm lands from the federal government under Hadejia valley,  said the project initiated during the 2nd Republic was being revived by President Buhari when he re-laid the foundation of the project two years ago.

According to him, the project which is multi beneficial has reached over seventy five percent completion.

He said the remaining percentage would be completed before the commencement of this year’s irrigation farming.

In a speech, the state Chairman, Council of chiefs, Emir of Hadejia Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Badaru Abubakar for actualising the project.
