The Federal Executive Council has approved over sixteen billion Naira for the implementation of erosion control and ecological projects tabled
for consideration last year.

Briefing State House correspondents on the approvals, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina,
explained that the projects were part of the Federal Government’s Soil, Erosion, Flood, and Pollution Control Intervention Scheme.

He said the thirteen beneficiaries were local government areas in Abia, Imo,Ogun, Osun, Cross River, Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba, Jigawa, Katsina, Kwara and Niger States as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

Mr. Adesina also said FEC had given approval for the revised estimate cost on the contract for the construction of Damaturu-Gashua-Nguru
132kva double circuit transmission line.

Also briefing newsmen, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, said FEC had approved the acquisition of a new headquarters for the Nigerian Maritime Administraion and Safety Agency, NIMASA, at
Victoria Island, Lagos, at the cost of over 17 billion Naira.
