Federal Government has assured its readiness towards lifting citizens out of poverty through series of social interventions programs.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Saadiya Umar Faruk stated this during the distribution of Engagement letters and Tablets to Trained Independent Monitors in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital.

She said out of 5000 Independent Monitors identified and shortlisted nationwide for the training, 4452 were trained across the Country.

According her, the Devices presented to the independent monitors are equipped with an Application that will be used to report and monitor designated number of beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programmes.

The Minister added that the ministry would not hesitate to disengage any Independent Monitor for misconduct or noncompliance with set guidelines and directives while urging them to carry out their primary assignment with justice and fairness.

Speaking earlier, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Fa’Ika Ahamed, said the State had taken Social Protection seriously and put in place several measures to strengthen the programmes and upgrade the state Humanitarian Affairs from Directorate to Ministry.

She also commended the efforts of President Muhammad Buhari, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Saadiya Umar Farouk as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Humanitarian Affairs Alhaji Musa Bungudu for their concern to Zamfara state and its people through series of poverty alleviation supports.

The Commissioner also urged the beneficiaries to use the gesture judiciously with passion and patriotism.
