The Rustled Cows

From AbdulRazaq Kaura (Zamfara)

Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji-OPHD, have intercepted 12 lorries loaded with 155 rustled cows, one Camel and one Ram in Zamfara State.

This was made known by the Deputy Force Commander of the OPHD, Air Commodore Abdulkadir Abubakar while handing over the recovered cows to Zamfara State Committee on Recovery of Rustled and Stolen Animals at the headquarters of the OPHD in Gusau.

Air Commodore Abdulkadir who was responding to journalists during the handing over of the recovered animals, said troops of OPHD have been trailing the cows for about a week which were later sold at ‘Yar-tasha market in Gusau Local Government Area and intercepted at Jangeme and Magami on Thursday night.

He noted that, preliminary investigation revealed that, some of the cows were sold at a very low price of between Thirty to forty thousand Naira only.

According to him, the military have arrested 44 persons along with the animals who will undergo interrogation and later hand them over to relevant authority.

In his remark, Secretary of the State Committee on Recovery of Rustled and Stolen Animals, Bashar Mailafiya Mada said they will keep the animals in their custody and announced it on Radio for rightful owner to claim, identify with evidence and collect them.

Bashar Mailafiya Mada noted that, adequate arrangement have been made to ensure success of the exercise.
