Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has adjourned until Friday, October 16, the consideration of a bail application filed by counsel to the second defendant, Jimi Adebisi Lawal, in a case involving alleged financial misconduct and money laundering.
Counsel to the second defendant had sought bail on health grounds, arguing that he required urgent medical attention.
However, prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Mukhtar, SAN, objected to the application, telling the court that he was served with the bail application only a few minutes before the commencement of the court session.
He requested adequate time to study the application and prepare the prosecution’s response.
In a related development, the court has adjourned the trial of former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who is the first defendant in the same case, to December 8, 2026.
El-Rufai had earlier been granted bail but was reported to have failed to meet the bail conditions.
