The Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has commiserated and sympathised with the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago and the residents of Niger State over the loss of 37 artisanal miners in the State
Mr. Kefas who led a State Government delegation to the Government House Minna said, the people of Taraba sympathize with the families of those who died in the incident and share in their grief.
The Taraba State Governor used the avenue to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for setting up a Committee to investigate the matter and stressed that the families of those involved deserve a clear account of what happened and its findings must lead to justice and measures that will protect lives.
He however expressed optimism that the Chairman of the Committee will do a good work considering his antecedents as a security personnel and believes that the committee will give the right report that will stand the test of time.
In his response, Governor Umar Bago appreciated the Taraba State Governor and his people for the kind words of comfort when the State is being tested, stressing that the visit has clearly demonstrated leadership, magnanimity and trust from his Taraba State counterpart.
He expressed hope that with the calibre and respect of the people drafted in the independent committee, they will do a great job while adding that the State Government’s judicial commission on inquiry is also doing a thorough job and remain certain that it will complement the report of the committee set up by the Federal Government.
