The Inspector General of Police IGP, Olatunji Disu says he is in full support of the current conversation for the establishment of State Police in the country.

He said the passage of the bill by the Senate to allow for the establishment of State Police in Nigeria will not in any way take over or affect the work of the Police in Nigeria.

The Inspector General of Police stated this in an interactive session with officers and men of the Niger State Police Command in Minna, during a one day official visit to the state.

He said they studied a lot of State Police model and decided to adopt this particular one to suit the Nigerian situation devoid of perceived problems by some Nigerians, who have some reservations over the matter.

On why he is in Niger state, to rescue the abducted worshippers, IGP, Olatunde Disu said they are not leaving any stone unturn in ensuring that the victims were rescued unhurt and within the possible time as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his remarks, Commissioner of  Police in charge of Niger state, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman thanked the IGP, for the visit which he described as timely and appropriate however assured him of their support at all times to succeed.

Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, added that officers and men of the Niger state Police Command remain resolute in any action targeted at the protection of lives and properties of people in Niger state.
