..Inaugurates ‘Ten Million Voices’ Team in Taraba, Charges Women to Lead
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has inaugurated the Ten Million Voices Team in Taraba State.
The inauguration took place in Jalingo during the opening ceremony of the 26th National Council on Women Affairs, Child Advancement, and Social Development, NCWACASD.
The event was organized by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development with the theme: “Strengthening Families and Advancing the Care Economy for Inclusive Development: Operationalizing Nigeria’s Renewed Social Protection Architecture.”
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Imaan Ibrahim charged members to own the movement, saying the Secretariat is set up to support the Nigerian First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.
She said the national body will establish Secretariats for the First Ladies of the 36 states of Nigeria to improve membership and grassroots mobilization.
In a bold call for gender parity, the Minister declared: “We don’t want any 35% anymore, we need 50-50.”
She added jokingly that at the next council meeting, “we will provide a female DJ.”

The statement drew applause from participants, with many women describing it as a reflection of the growing demand for equal representation in leadership and decision-making across the country.
The 26th NCWACASD is bringing together Commissioners of Women Affairs from across the country, development partners, and stakeholders to deliberate on policies aimed at strengthening families and advancing Nigeria’s social protection architecture under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
