The Medical Director of the National Orthopedic Hospital, NOH Jalingo, Prof. Chubado Tahir, has described President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative as transformative.
Prof. Tahir stated this in an interview with newsmen in Jalingo while commenting on activities held as part of the 58th birthday anniversary of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, in Taraba State.
He said the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu is transforming the lives of Nigerians and commended him for his exemplary leadership style.
Prof. Tahir revealed that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, and the Minister of State, are leading efforts to completely overhaul the health sector in the country.
He expressed optimism that within the next few years, Nigeria would be completely transformed under the Tinubu administration and wished the President long life in good health and prosperity.
Commenting on the free medical outreach initiated by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Tahir described the gesture as indescribable.
He noted that thousands of vulnerable Nigerians in Taraba State who cannot afford surgeries and other medical treatments have benefited.
He explained that the intervention is life-changing, with some elderly people going for hip replacement while many, mostly children with deformity cases have been admitted and will undergo surgery on Tuesday, 11th August 2026.
“Some of these people would not have been able to pay for such surgeries because of its cost, especially those children that have deformities. It would have limited their aspirations, but they are going to be treated free. And after these surgeries, I am sure they are going to achieve all their potential,” he said.
“This outreach changes the whole society. So, we can only wish our National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, a long life and good health, so that he can continue to impact our society,” he prayed.
The MD appreciated Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for his unwavering support and thanked him for donating an ambulance and a utility vehicle to the hospital.
“The state government is doing a lot for us. They are the ones who have us her as temporary and they allocated land for us to build our permanent site. His Excellency Dr. Kefas has been supportive. We remain grateful,” Prof. Tahir added.
He described the visit by Governor Kefas, the APC National Chairman, and the Coordinating Minister of Health, the SGS, and the State Head of Service, among many dignitaries as a first of its kind and a thing of joy to the entire management and staff of the hospital.
On the commendation he received from the Coordinating Minister for excellent performance within a few years as the pioneer MD, Prof. Tahir reaffirmed their commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring that the policies and programs of the Renewed Hope Initiative in the health sector are achieved.
He also appreciated his management team and all staff for their commitment and cooperation, describing the successes recorded so far as the result of teamwork.
Some beneficiaries awaiting surgeries expressed deep gratitude for the gesture and prayed for God to reward Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda with all his heart’s desires.
They also commended the Medical Director and his team for their services.
“This man, the MD is a nice person. The other Doctors and nurses are doing us very well. Me I no know how to thank them. We came here from Takum. Before this hospital was opened, we went to Kano but the leg of my daughter did not get better. But now, it has been fixed and we are very, very happy. He is always coming to check on patients and asks if there is any problem,” one mother said.
