National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Lagos Operations Office, in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, has received 178 Nigerian returnees from Tripoli, Libya.

The returnees arrived Monday, August 10, aboard an Air Buraq Airlines flight, which landed at the Cargo Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, under the Assisted Voluntary Return Programme coordinated by the International Organization for Migration, IOM, in collaboration with the Federal Government.

They comprised 165 adults, including 127 males and 38 females, 10 children and three infants.

On arrival, officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service conducted biometric registration and documentation to facilitate proper identification and the reintegration process.

NEMA and partner agencies provided immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, potable water, medical screening, ambulance services, luggage handling and other logistical support.

Counselling and reintegration assistance were also provided to help the returnees transition safely back into their communities.

The exercise underscores the continued collaboration among NEMA, NCFRMI, IOM, NIS and other stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians returning from abroad are received with dignity and provided with necessary humanitarian and reintegration support.
