Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved a ₦32,000 monthly increase in pension for all pensioners in the State as part of efforts to improve the welfare of retired public servants.

The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau.

According to the statement, the increment is in addition to the existing monthly pensions currently being paid and will benefit both state and local government pensioners across Zamfara State.

It says Governor Lawal has directed the State Accountant-General to commence immediate implementation and payment of the ₦32,000 monthly increase to all eligible pensioners without delay.

The statement describes the approval as another demonstration of the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of senior citizens and ensuring that retired public servants receive the support and dignity they deserve after years of service.

It adds that the Governor remains committed to implementing people-oriented policies aimed at cushioning the effects of prevailing economic challenges while fulfilling the government’s obligations to workers, pensioners and other citizens of the State.

The statement further reassures pensioners that the Zamfara State Government will continue to prioritise their welfare through policies and programmes designed to improve their standard of living and overall well-being.
