Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has confirmed the successful deployment and utilisation of medical equipment procured under its ₦48 million intervention at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital (MAWTH), Kano.
The verification followed a post-funding assessment conducted by officials of the agency to evaluate the implementation of healthcare interventions funded under its 2025 Regular Intervention Programme.
KHETFUND had disbursed ₦48 million to the hospital on October 9, 2025, for the procurement of critical medical equipment, including an ultrasound scanning machine, a heavy-duty autoclave and a modern baby incubator.
During the verification exercise, the team confirmed that the equipment had been delivered, installed and fully integrated into clinical service.
Speaking after the inspection, the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hamisu Abubakar, expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s accountability and proper utilisation of the intervention.
She said the Fund remains committed to ensuring that public resources invested in healthcare translate into measurable improvements in patient care and service delivery across the state.
According to her, the successful deployment of the medical equipment reflects KHETFUND’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure through effective monitoring and post-funding oversight.
The Chief Medical Director of Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Professor Hadiza Sa’id, commended KHETFUND for the timely intervention, noting that the new equipment has significantly improved clinical services.
She explained that the ultrasound machine, autoclave and baby incubator have reduced patient waiting time, enhanced maternal and neonatal healthcare, and improved the hospital’s emergency response capacity.
Professor Sa’id described KHETFUND as a dependable partner in advancing tertiary healthcare delivery in Kano State.
The verification exercise forms part of the Kano State Government’s broader efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure through sustained investment, improved accountability and enhanced access to quality medical services across the state.
