The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Pantami Ward, Gombe Local Government Area, has rejected claims that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, formally resigned from the party.

Prof. Pantami contested and won the PDP  governorship primaries in Gombe after his defection from the APC.

Addressing journalists after a ward executive meeting, the Deputy Chairman of Pantami Ward, Yaya Isa, and the Ward Secretary, Ibrahim Muhammad, said the ward leadership was not officially informed of Professor Pantami’s resignation and had not received any resignation letter from him.

According to the officials, members of the ward executive committee only became aware of the purported resignation after the Ward Chairman informed them that he had personally received a letter from the former minister.

The ward secretary maintained that the resignation was neither presented before the ward executive committee nor formally communicated to its members as required by party procedures.

The ward executives therefore argued that Professor Pantami had not properly completed the process of resigning from the APC before defecting to the PDP.

They also questioned assertions by the Ward Chairman and the party’s legal adviser that the former minister had duly resigned, noting that no documentary evidence was presented before the ward executive committee to substantiate the claim.
