Former House of Representatives member ,Mal. Hamisu Mailantarki, has announced his interest to contest for the governorship election in 2027 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Mailantarki made the declaration through his Director-General on campaign, Adamu Bappa, who presented his letter of intent to the party leadership on his behalf at the PDP State Secretariat in Gombe.
Bappa described the former lawmaker as a loyal and disciplined party man who has remained committed to party structures from the ward to national level.
According to him, Mailantarki’s governorship ambition has inspired several legislative hopefuls, as he arrived with about 20 House of Assembly aspirants and supporters seeking various elective positions under the PDP.
Receiving the form on behalf of the party, the Gombe State PDP leadership described Mailantarki’s declaration as evidence of growing confidence in the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking through the Deputy State Chairman, Adamu Dan Azumi, the PDP said the influx of aspirants into the party showed that the opposition was regaining momentum in the state.
He commended Mailantarki for submitting his letter early and assured all aspirants of fairness and transparency in the party’s nomination process.
The PDP also announced an extension of the deadline for submission of expressions of interest form from May 3 to May 9, urge all interested aspirants to take advantage of the extension.
