The Federal Government has restated its commitment to empowering smallholder farmers and strengthening the agricultural value chain under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The National Programme Manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEEP, Hamza Ibrahim Baba, gave the assurance in Uyo during the South-South FarmerMoni zonal sensitization programme.

Baba, who interacted with hundreds of Renewed Hope FarmerMoni beneficiaries from Akwa Ibom State, top government officials, farmers associations, the National Identity Management Commission, and other critical stakeholders, described the gathering as a clear demonstration of government’s resolve to support farmers at the grassroots.
He said the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme remains a cornerstone intervention designed to provide financial inclusion, economic support, and sustainable livelihoods to Nigerians.

“FarmerMoni, as a key component of GEEP, specifically targets smallholder farmers, enabling them to expand production, improve productivity, and ultimately enhance food security across the South-South and the nation at large,” he stated.
Baba noted that Akwa Ibom State’s strong agricultural endowments in oil palm production, cassava farming, rice cultivation, fisheries and aquaculture, poultry, and coconut value chains position the intervention to further strengthen agro-industrial growth and food security within the state and across the region.
