The former Inspector-General of Police and APC flag beara in nasarawa state Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has rejected the anointing of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, by Governor Abdullahi Sule as his preferred successor, insisting that he would go ahead with the contest.

The Director General of the Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Political Campaign Movement, Barrister Musa Hussein, at a press conference in lafia, the state capital, noted that his principal is determined and confidence to go into the APC primaries because he believes strongly in his popularity.

He disclosed that the former IG had, obtained his governorship expression of interest and nomination forms, insisting that they are fully prepared to win the forthcoming APC primary despite the governor’s endorsement of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

“We are not considering the issue of consensus because we are in this contest to win the forthcoming governorship primary election of the APC and the 2027 governorship election, the DG added…..”

“Just today, my principal, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms for the governorship election.

“The former IGP is ready to go into a free, fair, and credible primary election, and I can assure the entire residents of Nasarawa State that we will emerge victorious.”

Currently Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, is representing the Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, had hinted that he and other party leaders were working hard to secure a consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election, to enable him to succeed at the polls.

“The former IGP is ready to go into a free, fair, and credible primary election, and I can assure the entire people of nasarawa state that we will emerge victorious.”

Speaking on recent political developments within the party, the endorsement and adoption of a preferred governorship aspirant by Governor Abdullahi Sule, the Director General of the Ex-IGP campaign team, noted that the action is considered unconstitutional, misleading, as well a direct threat to democracy.

He noted that the APC constitution clearly provides only two legitimate methods for the emergence of aspirant to be a candidates: direct primaries or consensus, insisting that there is no provision for unilateral adoption or imposition of any aspirant by individuals or party structures.

Barrister Musa Husseini lamented that alleged that, several ward executives and party officials were subjected to undue pressure, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the process, noting that any outcome derived under such conditions cannot be regarded as democratic or valid.

He urged party officials at all levels to be reminded that neutrality is a constitutional obligation, saying that any involvement in premature endorsement or partisan alignment before the primaries constitutes misconduct and will be resisted.
