The Department of State Services, DSS, has filed an amended charge against former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, and his son, Abdulaziz, before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, over alleged terrorism-related offences and unlawful possession of firearms.

At the resumed hearing, counsel to the DSS  Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, informed the court that the initial charge had been reviewed and applied for its withdrawal to allow for the amended charge to be read.

Defence counsel, Shaibu Aruwa, SAN, confirmed receipt of the revised charge and did not oppose the application.

The prosecution alleged that in December 2025, the defendants took steps towards committing acts of terrorism by allegedly possessing, without lawful authorisation, a Sturm Magnum 17–0101 firearm, 16 live Redstar AAA cartridges and 27 expended cartridges, contrary to Section 29 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

When the amended charge was read, the defendants pleaded not guilty.

Following the plea, counsel to the DSS urged the court to fix a date for trial.

However, defence counsel did not oppose the request but prayed the court to allow the defendants to continue enjoying the bail earlier granted, noting that they had complied with all the conditions attached.
