The Federal Government has reassured families of security personnel killed in a recent attack in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State of its continued support and commitment to their welfare.
Vice President Kashim Shettima gave the assurance in Birnin Kebbi during a condolence visit to Governor Nasir Idris, following the killing of eleven security operatives and the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, in Cairo, Egypt.
The Vice President, who led a Federal Government delegation on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, said the sacrifices of fallen heroes would not be in vain, stressing that the welfare of members of the armed forces and their families remains a top priority of the administration.
He disclosed that the President has directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to provide relief materials to affected families and displaced communities.
Vice President Shettima also prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and urged the people of the state to remain resilient in the face of the challenges.
