The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced plans to launch the National Community Food Bank Project in Borno State later this month in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and the Bank of Agriculture.

She made this known during the presentation of food items to vulnerable groups in Zamfara State under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme, in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital.

The First Lady represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, stated that, the initiative was designed to tackle child malnutrition by improving access to nutritious food and strengthening community support systems to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

she emphasized that, the programme aims was to reinforce community structures to support children’s development and well-being.

Senator Tinubu also announced plans to launch additional economic empowerment programmes later this year, aimed at supporting women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities across the country.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu pointed out that, the Food Outreach Scheme, under the Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Programme, was launched in March 2024 to provide food items to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in order to support their families.

She maintained that, the act of kindness has been made possible through the generous support of two donors who have committed to supplying two truckloads of food items to the Renewed Hope Initiative every month. From these supplies, the Initiative supports two states monthly.

“We have successfully distributed food items to 24 states, including the Federal Capital Territory. By the grace of God, Rivers State will be the 25th beneficiary of this growing initiative”

“Our goal at the Renewed Hope Initiative is to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This agenda is focused on supporting all Nigerians to strive and achieve their goals, irrespective of their condition or status”

In her remark, the Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal said the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme had delivered relief to vulnerable groups in Zamfara State through a food outreach aimed at improving the welfare of disadvantaged communities.

She noted that the outreach reflects compassion, unity, and a shared commitment to uplifting the lives of the most vulnerable members of society.

Hajiya Huriyya commended the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, for initiating the programme, describing it, as a laudable effort that continues to bring hope and relief to families across the country and also appreciated the Wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, who represented the First Lady at the event.

According to her, the Renewed Hope Initiative has continued to make a meaningful difference through its consistent efforts to support vulnerable populations nationwide.

She also recognized the presence and solidarity of wives of Northern governors, described their participation as a strong demonstration of unity and shared commitment to regional development and social welfare.

The outreach programme, she said, highlights the importance of governance that directly impacts lives, adding that initiatives like the RHI are key to restoring hope, strengthening communities, and building a more inclusive society.

Ealier, Governor Dauda Lawal reaffirmed his administration commitment to continue supporting vulnerable groups online with Renew Hope Initiative.

Some of the benefiries of the food items Commended the First Lady of Nigeria for the support, saying that, it would go along away in supporting households.

The event brought together benefiries from the fourteen local government areas of the state which attended by state Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mummuni, Wife of the Speaker of the House and Wives of Norther Governors.

More than six hundred vulnerable are expected to benefit from the gesture.
