Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on motorists, especially commercial drivers, to always adhere to safety standards and avoid using worn-out or substandard tyres.

The FRSC Deputy Corps Education Officer, Mr Ohaeri Osondu, made the call during the Special Easter Mega Rally held at major motor parks in Abuja. He decried the increasing cases of reckless driving on highways.

He stressed that many road accidents occur as a result of motorists’ attitudes and poor vehicle maintenance.

He appealed to transport union leaders to cooperate with the FRSC in saving lives and making roads safer for socio-economic activities.

Identifying the use of mobile phones while driving, lane indiscipline, overloading, over-speeding, and alcohol consumption as major challenges, Mr Osondu said the rally would be carried out nationwide to sensitize road users on effective traffic management in the country.

Speaking on the theme of the Mega Rally, “Drive Responsibly, Celebrate Peaceful Easter 2026 – Road Safety Awareness”, the FRSC Deputy Corps Education Officer urged passengers to always report drivers who fail to abide by traffic rules and regulations.

“The Corps is focusing the campaign on the use of worn-out and substandard tyres,” he said.

According to him, passengers have the right to call the FRSC toll-free number, 122, to report dangerous driving for immediate response.

He assured that the Corps would not relent in its sensitization campaign and collaboration with stakeholders in checking road accidents.
