Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has affirmed that the state remains a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, APC, judging from the smooth conduct of the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses.
Speaking at Peoples Square in Katsina, venue of the event, the governor observed that the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise demonstrated the party’s unity of purpose as it faces a crucial election next year.
The congress, which brought together delegates from the 361 wards across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, produced a new State Executive Committee through a consensus arrangement endorsed by the party stakeholders.
Governor Radda commended party members for the discipline and maturity they exhibited throughout the process, describing the exercise as a clear reflection of the party’s commitment to internal democracy.
“This process demonstrates that Katsina APC remains united, organised and committed to democratic values,” the governor said.
He congratulated members of the Local Organising Committee for ensuring effective coordination of the congresses from ward to state level, and the newly elected party leaders whom he tasked to lead with fairness and commitment to the party’s victory in the forthcoming elections.
Earlier, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, confirmed that all procedures for the conduct of the congresses were in line with the Electoral Act and the APC constitution.
“The stage is fully set, and we have acted strictly in accordance with the laws of the party. We have handed over all materials for the smooth conduct of this congress,” he said.
The newly elected executive council members include Alhaji Bishir Gambo who emerged as Chairman, Bala Abu Musawa ; Deputy Chairman, Adnan Nahabu ; Secretary and Ahmad Hassan Organising , Secretary.
