The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to achieving food sufficiency and promoting a vibrant tourism sector, as activities continued on day two of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival in Kebbi State.

Speaking at an agricultural exhibition held as part of the festival, the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Alhaji Tanko Sununu, who represented the Minister of Agriculture, said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to sustaining ongoing efforts to boost agricultural productivity across the country.

According to him, the display of rice pyramids and various agricultural produce by farmers in the state reflects progress in the drive toward national food security.

He added that the Argungu festival goes beyond a cultural celebration, describing it as a platform capable of attracting investment into the tourism sector and strengthening social cohesion.

The event was attended by the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, and featured a range of cultural and traditional displays, including live animal skinning and a tug-of-war contest between butchers and fishermen, which was won by the fishermen.

Various agricultural products and modern farming implements were also exhibited at different pavilions for inspection by the governor and other dignitaries, including the Shehu of Bama from Borno State, Emir of Kagara and representative of emir of Katsina among others.
