The Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Dr. Builder Muhammad Uba, has warned health workers in the area against lateness and absenteeism at their workplaces.
He gave the warning during a ceremony organised by BKD Health Volunteers in Birnin Kudu.
The event was held to honour the chairman for supporting over 200 volunteer health personnel under the BKD Health Scheme, aimed at complementing the Jigawa State Government’s healthcare efforts.

Dr. Uba noted that most health facilities in the area were previously not fully functional due to a shortage of personnel, but with the engagement of volunteers, health workers have now been deployed to various centres.
He warned staff against negligence and dereliction of duty, stressing that the best way to appreciate his support is by upholding integrity and commitment in their service to humanity.
He further explained that there were reports of some of health workers abandoning their jobs at some points.
Builder, appealed to them to instill in themselves the fear of God and pity the patients they are working for.
The Chairman revealed that their effort might attract increment of allowances and more benefits.
He urged residents of the area, to register and join the APC, stressing that more empowerment is under way.

In his welcome address, one of the beneficiaries of the BKD Health scheme, Malam Mujitaba Ibrahim, commended the Chairman for providing them with job opportunities.
He explained that their volunteer service has paid off as it has saved them from drug abuse and other social vices.
Mujtaba Ibrahim noted that the financial support given to them by the local government is commendable, as 8t helps them to sustain themselves.
Another beneficiary, Malam Nasiru Sanusi, explained that the employees of the scheme were on casual engagement before being supported by the local government chairman.
He commended the local government boss for engaging them and supporting them to serve humanity through the Local government.
Alh. Inuwa Maigari, representative of the NUT who attended the function, also commended the chairman for recognising the efforts of the volunteers.
He expressed that residents of the local government are witnessing the reawakening of an old warrior, due to the commitment of the local government boss to develop every sector.
Maigari advised youths in the area, to ensure they register for to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), to support the chairman.
Some of the beneficiaries of the BKD Health in their testimonies, said the project was life changing.
Sulaiman Yusuf, one of them, revealed that he was volunteer who enjoys the support of the chairman.
Aisha Ismail Abubakar, another beneficiary, also revealed that she was volunteering for four years before the coming of the Dr Builder Uba into office.
She explained that the upgrade had impacted on her and boosted her income.
Another beneficiary, Ummu Salma Abdullahi also commended the local government Chairman, noting that the engagement has given her an opportunity to support her family instead of being a burden.
